Our story begins after World War II when Chris Mario, my uncle, arrived back from battle in Europe and needed to start again. In a Boston newspaper, (the old "Record American"), he read and followed up on ad for training to be an Optician. We still have his old diploma. After completing a tour of duty in Korea, his brother, Jerry Mario, my father, joined him also as a trained Optician. They continued working as Opticians into the 50’s when they added hearing aids to their professional services. This was a common blending of the two disciplines and is still widespread today.
As we grew, my cousin Dennis and myself also schooled and trained for the same two, yet highly evolved professions over 30 years ago. In addition, we are Board Certified in both. Dennis has relocated out of state. I turned my attention to Hearing Sciences only, many years ago. My wife Lisa, is also an Optician and Hearing Insrument Specialist, thus completing this, our second generation of patient care. We now look forward to the growing third generation.
Over the past sixty-plus years of service, our family has become attuned to working with the patient in finding the best possible result. To achieve this, a Hearing Instrument Specialist must have deep knowledge and experience. By remaining independent practitioners for over 60 years, we feel we do this the best. Call for an appointment and meet with our generations of care.
Working within the medical community in the Metro Boston area, our clinics provide a variety of hearing healthcare services including hearing assessments, hearing aid prescribing and fitting, tinnitus treatment, physician referrals and industrial testing.
